Fear of change
I've spent the last 12 years in one company. That's a long, long time for an IT developer. Despite some people laughing about it, and some encouraging me to change it, I've stood my ground.
And yet, the day has come for a change. It's hard, I have to admit that. I'm both terrified and excited.
The reasons for a change:
- tech debt in my current company, fear of going rusty
- more money (with economic crisis looming here and there)
The reasons not to change:
- people
I've been weighting the pros and cons for some time now. I really love people at my current job, they're great. And that's the thing that kept me working here all time long.
I could swallow the money argument. But I can't fall behind with the tech. That's a no-go.
The day has come to say "I'm sorry, I quit".
And it's hard, much harder than I thought. Wish me luck.
